Lace has been entering the world of fashion with a big bang. It is such a delicate and elegant material, and very versatile. Anyone can wear it in pretty much any way that they desire. At first lace was only used for table cloths and dollies in women’s and men’s clothing and mainly only people higher up on the social ladder obtained it. It did not become wide spread until the 16th century, and missionaries even spread it to Native American tribes. It soon became used for wedding dresses and other more “formal” attire. However, shortly after the use for lace spread to many other forms as well.
Nowadays lace is used, still, for wedding dresses,
but it has spread to being used for casual dresses as well!
Like this lace mini-dress from Forever 21. As you can see a lace dress can be worn in many different styles. For example, you can be more girly with it and pair it with blush colored pumps and pearls…
Or if you do not like to be too in touch with your feminine side, you can opt for a more “tough” look. Pair your lace dress with a pair of ankle booties, a leather jacket and some killer accessories!
Also, if you do not want to be traditional with white, you can go for various different colors as well. There’s red, burgundy, green, all sorts of colors that your heart may desire.
As you see in this picture the girl has on a navy blue lace dress and spunked it up with red heels, a tan leather jacket and a matching bag.
Now, lace is not only for dresses anymore. Lace shoes have become a big hit as well. From pumps
(Valentino)
To ballet flats…
And even booties…
(House of Harlow)
Of course, it does not stop there! You can also get a variety of lace accessories.
A clutch to add a little sexiness to your outfit.
Some bracelets, as a subtle little detail.
Or some cute lace flower hair clips to add a more girly and playful touch.
So there you have it! A material that started out as only for richer people, and that was mainly used for table cloths and dollies has now grown to a very popular material for various sorts of things which is affordable for everyone. From dresses to shoes to accessories, there is a way to war lace for everyone now.
